Dear Supporters,

We have exciting news. As of this week, a proposition was put forth in the Moroccan parliament to abolish article 475 of the penal code. This proposition will be put to vote within the next 6 months. Although our film does not hold the position that this law is solely responsible for Amina Filali's fate nor that of the many cases of rape in Morocco, we are excited for what we see as a great start to ending rape culture. This recent development has important implications for our film which will come out at a time of debate in the Moroccan parliament and within Moroccan society as a whole. We truly hope that this film will contribute to this debate and put more pressure on the Makhzen (the Moroccan system of governance) to change it's patriarchal ways.

Unfortunately, this week has also shown us bad news, also originating from the Moroccan parliament. Hassan Arif, a member of parliament has been acquitted of rape, while his victim (who has given birth to his child, as proven by DNA testing) has been put in jail for "contempt against a magistrate." This charge was the result of her challenging the judge for acquitting her rapist. This charge and the acquittal of the MP, having nothing to do with article 475 of the penal code, only reaffirm our crew's belief that article 475 has very little to do with sexual violence in Morocco.

These important recent developments, occurring only a week before the premiere of the film have caused us to reconsider the release date. After several days of debate, we have decided that it is best to push the release date to February 18 in order to modify and improve the film in accordance to these developments.

For more information regarding the decision to delay the release date, please contact us at contact@guerrillacine.ma. We would be more than happy to answer any of your questions.

Also, we highly encourage you to sign this petition asking for Hassan Arif's resignation from parliament and for justice for his victim. For more information regarding Hassan Arif, please check out this Facebook page which includes various articles regarding this case.

Sincerely,

The 475 Crew

Dear supporters,

The 475 crew would like to thank you once again for your very generous support. With our crew being separated by the Atlantic, it has been a challenging process of post-production but we are pushing forward. Our first cut has been completed and is about 3 hours long. The challenge that lies ahead of us is to condense this footage into around an hour to an hour and a half. But for now, we'd like to invite you to watch the teaser for the film right here

If you have any questions regarding the film, please do not hesitate to contact us atarticle475@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

The 475 Crew
